Martin Scorsese — What’s a Nice Girl Like You Doing in a Place Like This?

I haven’t seen Shutter Island yet, and I doubt I’ll get the chance to see it in theaters. So last night I watched a bunch of Scorsese’s early work. It’s Not Just You, Murray! took longer to find that the others, so I figured I’d share this list of online venues to watch these films.

What’s a Nice Girl Like You Doing in a Place Like This? (1963) — YouTube
It’s Not Just You, Murray! (1964) — YouTube Part One - Part Two
The Big Shave (1967) — YouTube
Who’s That Knocking at My Door (1967) — Netflix: Watch Instantly
And a decade later in his career…
Taxi Driver (1976) — Netflix: Watch Instantly

Goodfellas (1990)

This scene is one that is often stuck in my mind, more so than any of the dramatic dialogue or gangster brutality. It’s all about the camera work here. Scorsese does an excellent job of giving the shot so much movement, even though De Niro and Liotta simply stay settled in the booth the entire time. It’s towards the end of the film, starting at roughly 2 hrs 13 min. You should watch it, along with the rest of the film, if you never have.
